Loooong Overdue Update

Well, I feel like there's some 'splainin' to do.

When we closed for remodeling the plan was six weeks. Optimistic? Sure but that isn't where our plans went awry. Back in June we noticed a small leak in the corner by the door when it rained. Just a few drops really but it was reported to building management, fast forward to August. We started renovations in back of house - the kitchens and thank goodness because we got some torrential rain in August and early September. Long story short, that little drip turned into something that eventually brought down the dinning room ceiling, damaged walls, compromised areas of the floor, shorted out electricity, caused damage to cabinets and counter tops....etc.

Leaks are notoriously difficult to isolate and every time a "repair" was made we anxiously awaited the next rain to confirm success. We waited though October repairs. November repairs. December repairs. Argh. Anyway the problem has been found and a very temporary workaround put into place but we anxiously await news from building management about the permanent solution. In the mean time we've begun repairing the main room (which is significantly more involved due to water damage).

Without a doubt the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and PPP loans saved Carma's Cafe and it my sincere hope that once the dust settles the Cafe will be back serving those that have supported us for so many years.

I would be remiss not to mention the Cafe staff members who have stuck with me through this trauma and drama. We have done demolition, construction, plumbing, electrical work, metal work, installed FRP. Heck, we even repaired some refrigerators with fiberglass and boat epoxy resin!

Look for a Valentine's Day pop-up on the terrace February 12-14th! We can't wait to see you.

With so much love, appreciation and affection,

Carma
